All is clear in Avery County There was 1 clap of thunder, no rain....yet. I'm playing hookey today, I am supposed to be at an art class in Asheville and I couldn't bear the thought of driving 1 1/2 hours each way on a holiday weekend. I was just about to ride my horse when I heard thunder so that's out....enjoy the weekend everyone! Annie
I heard on the news, and I really could not believe what I was hearing and seeing, but down in Henderson County (maybe I got the county wrong?) they had giant hail, to where on TV the roadsides it looked just like piles of snow, and here it is almost June. I cannot ever remember that happening so close to June. Oh, maybe up on Mt Pisgah they'll get some stuff in May, but not down here in the valley. Anybody else catch that Channel 13 news story?
Which reminds me, how about that bear heading downtown from Town Mt and moseying over behind the police station, and then eating berries at the Episcopal Church on Woofin, and then heading back up the hill. He looked mighty thin and his fur was in terrible shape, they said it was a youngster. I'll bet any tourists must have thought they was seeing things! Most of the bears are either down in Biltmore Forest or over near Beaver Lake. A downtown bear! Oh, and has anybody heard if they indeed named the new otter at the Nature Center the popular "Obi-wan"?
We drove from Greenville, SC to Banner Elk last evening and fully expected to drive through bad weather. Just a few sprinkles...
