HELP!!!! We're moving to Wichita and I can't find a rental that takes more than 1 or 2 pets! We have a medium sized beagle mix and 3 older indoor cats. I have contacted just about every apartment and they are all firm on their policy. Even if you offer an extra security deposit and/or extra rent they won't consider it. I understand it from their view point. There are a lot of irresponsible pet owners out there I'm sure, but we're not one of them, and I won't leave without all of my family. Moving is stressful enough but this is awful! I even contacted the humane society to see if they had any ideas, and all they could tell me was to try and find a home rental. We're working on that, but it's hard because they go so fast. We're moving across the country so wow...it's pretty hard to schedule a showing before we get there. July 1 is our date and we're flying into town in June to sign a lease somewhere does anyone have any ideas? I should be asking what part of town to look at as everyone else does but instead find myself asking, "Who will rent to my whole family?" It's such a worry!!!!

karbos - I realize it's 6 months later but if you should happen ta pop back on to this board I am curious how things came out for you renting in Wichita. My wife and I are renting an apartment in Dodge City, and we have two dogs and two cats. It's really too bad that the bad renters have to ruin the chances of pet lovers who take good care of landlord properties and also need places to rent.

Hope everything worked out - again, if you see your original post in here again and want to let us know how everything worked out for you that would be great.

Wichita's low cost of living is so low it makes better sense to rent a house than an apt where you will eventually get into trouble with other tenants or whatever.
