I need to MapQuest to an address that starts off like this: W11711 State Street

What does the letters in front of the numbers mean ? ? ?

The letter in front of the numbers indicates a cardinal direction, in this case West. In much of rural Wisconsin, the address format uses the N prefix for addresses on roads that run primarily north-south, and a W prefix for addresses on roads running primarily east-west. Rural addresses typically start in the southeast corner of the county. The further north (on north-south roads) or west (on east-west roads) you are from the southeast corner, the higher your address number will be.

Use that address or if have phone number use anywho directory and then get map tp phone number listed... I use yahoo maps as best I found so far.
Either that or call get directions from person.

The W and N was to make it easier for fire, police and EMT to get to a location within the county. Takes getting used to but can find places faster as numbers go up closer get.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I can't call and ask for directions, as I am looking at houses, so most of my directions are for "drive bys" to see I actually want to see what's inside.

If have a idea where road is start looking at numbers as have posted on corner of lot usually and can figure out if road goes 2 directions off a highway by numbers up or down.

Sorry could not help more. I hated it when first started doing this but actually helps compared to the old rural route 1, rural route 2 and such.

Default Try Google

I use maps.google.com. I have more luck with the rural addresses with them. If you have an address like mine, put a space between the 2 sets of numbers (W291 S2711 Main St). Also, most of the real estate websites have a map and directions link you can click on at the bottom of the page to take you directly to the house they are advertising.
