In my opinion, Wisconsin is more like New York and Vermont than Maine. The Adirondack Coast and St. Lawrence River Valley regions of northern New York are more similar to Wisconsin than any region of Maine that I can think of. Lakefront and riverfront towns in northern New York, such as Cape Vincent, Essex and Sackets Harbor, for example, are reminiscent of Door County towns. And the hills of New York are similar to hills of Wisconsin, especially when comparing the western halves of both states. Finally, people in both New York and Wisconsin mostly speak with the same accent (i.e., Inland North American English). People in interior Maine sound like a three-way cross between Boston, Halifax and Minneapolis.

The only thing that stuck out to me was that Maine didn’t have a minority population to speak of. It still stands today at something like 90% white. Probably more. Kind weird not seeing minorities anywhere, and I mean anywhere.

You may have missed the 10,000 Somalis that began their move to Maine in the early 2000's.
