Nope. Not "just as bad". Not nearly. Those laws apply to the interviewer, not the interviewee. Nothing illegal about deciding to answer them.

It's actually quite common and I would suggest doing so. It let's you know how you're doing (in the eyes of your boss) and gives you proof if he tries to s*c*r*e*w you over at the end for some reason. Good reasons could be you're going to be doing some volunteering, and therefore need a reference. You want to work in your church, at your child's school, whatever.

Actually, many posters did support him and acted as though I am a baby for wishing to be paid for my time. I believe one poster even said "Your boss is 100% right".
