Robert Half International - Salary Guides

Is this accurate? It seems like it over estimates how much people are worth or I'm not getting paid enough

It is not a bad guide; many of my clients look at it. There are a few caveats, however. It is a closed, private survey and only includes candidates they have placed. So those are newly placed (and in this economy, companies only pay placement fees on highly desirable candidates) or placed over the years who self-disclose. So, they don't represent a "market median." Another thing to keep in mind that during recessionary times, median salaries can be impacted when less senior employees are laid off and the more highly paid employees are retained. "Averages" actually can go up. So you have to be a careful about relying on market information at face value.
