So I interviewed last Tuesday May 3rd at a local bank that offered an internship for college students. The interviewer told me they will call me back on Friday May 6th for second round. However, they never called back. So, I followed up on Friday that afternoon and they said they would be giving me an answer soon by next week. So fast forward, now it is Wednesday, I sent them a polite email asking them about my application status.
Here is how they replied:
"Thank you for your email. Our HR department will be contacting you soon with further information on your application."
So, if the interviewer interviewed me and I sent the email to the interviewer. Why can't the interviewer give me my application status straight out. Instead of saying the HR will contact me soon about my status. I feel like this is a rejection.
One of my friends currently works as an intern at this bank, and she said they also wanted to do second round interviews with her. But, she got an email from HR saying that they gave her the offer and didn't even do a second round interview.
They typically like to jack u around with this kind of BS. I find that if you don't hear back when you should, its a no go and you should put it out of your mind. I'm dealing with a company right now that has cancelled my interview twice, told me to call them at a certain time and the didn't pick up, and generally seems pretty unreliable.
Employers demand the world from employees but won't show us any respect...I can't wait for the day when employers are begging us for our services, but that will be a long time in coming
Most companies do not have the interviewers contacting the candidate. It is through HR. It is just policy. I would also be careful on how many times you follow up on this. That is already twice.
At this point, I would stop all contact and wait for HR. If HR never responds back to you then it's time to find another company to intern with.
