I am trying to get back to work after staying home with kids. My resume looks horrible, it is riddled with holes and short employment. I have a lot of great experience though, and every long term job I had I was offered promotions and did very well. My most recent long term job was self employment, which I don't think looks very good either.
So, my question is, how do I overcome this? I can put my company as a current employer, we are still wrapping it up and finishing taxes and stuff, so I do still work for it technically, it just doesn't pay me anymore. Is that a good idea? Should I leave the short employment off? What exactly do employers want to see on a resume? I need a job with a good company that is secure and has good benefits.
