Change of work field help..... (interview, sales, department, experience)

Hello for the last two years I have been working front desk in hotels and why I have learned alot I feel like I want to continue to grow and move on from it. I would like to actually get into the sales/events departments. With that being said I have applied to many positions and even gotten an interview or two but ultimately they end up going with the person that has experience. I guess my concern is how do I move on if I dont have any of the other experience that I need?
