so here's the story. i was a temp employee at BofA december 09,they hired me perm june 2010 as a mortgage processor, liked working there and loved the girls on my team. we became instant friends. so come april 2011 got laid off with 15 other peopel. so a friend of mine who still works there called me in sept and told me they have positions opening up again for perm hire. so of course i applied i figued hey i've worked there before my performance was so good got a raise the first 3 months i was there. all my pipeline always closed. so i go on 2 interviews with the same managers i had when i worked there,i figured i had this in the bag. well today find out they said after careful consideration they hired other qualified candidates. so my friend who is still there called me and informed me the people they hired were previous temp employees who got laid off with me, two of them right out of college with no experience as a mortgage processor, when they were there the did clerical work, the other of course is a boyfriend of one of the managers who has no experience at all. so this really pisses me off. i've been in this business for over 15 years my last job i was at for 10 years. that tells you something about my performance. i want to contact their hr dept so bad and discuss but dont want to burn any bridges in case these people dont work out and they call me back. im so bummed cause im still looking for work and their is nothing out there. than again do i really want to work for such a greedy corporation? just needed to vent.. thanks
Maybe it was considered an entry level opening? If I was the hiring manager, I would wonder why someone with 10-15 years experience is applying for a position in which entry level candidates are being considered. I would also consider your upwards movement over your career. Since you've been doing this for 15 years or so.... you should have a steady upward movement, holding a management position at some point. If not, I'd wonder why.

no it was a postion requiring at least 5 years.. the actual position is called HSS level 2. which is Home service specialist with underwriting knowledge in mortgages. and actually most processors in the mortgage business do not move up maybe as an underwriter but usually just processes for entire career which pays quite well and i actully like doing it. i wonder do you have knowlege of mortgage lending?

Not much. I was a mortgage consultant (Loan officer) at Chase for summers inbetween college semesters. That's about it. It is not my career.

What did you end up doing?
I'm curious how you dress for the job. I was watching "How Do I Look" & it was a similar situation; where one gal was picked for the job but her attire cost her the job.
What we're seeing with a lot of banks; Wells Fargo; Bank of America is that they don't keep the buildings staffed but instead have a few people that office hop & now people have to make appointments. My hub tried to get a business loan from a few banks & found this out same thing. We also know someone that was doing the same thing you do & she was traveling between banks as needed.
Deb, I'm sorry that happened to you, but BOA is a horrible bank, and I would be embarassed to work for them anyway.
I have worked for 3 regional, independent banks and the mortgage people have almost all come from BOA and Wells. I don't know NJ, but hang in there. I bet you will be happier once you get situated with a bank that cares about its customers.

i would call and talk to the HR people. at this point it doesn't matter, and i wouldn't want to work for them EVER again. (unless you feel you are in dire straights and don't want to risk it)
these companies need to have people telling them when they're doing something morally wrong.

I bank with BofA and have no problems at all with them. They care about their customers who pay their bills and don't bounce checks. My local branch knows me and always takes good care of me.

Switching from BoA to Chase last year is something I don't regret. BoA sucks.
