I have a cousin who is not able to find a decent job in his town. Because of his experience he can't get calls for entry level but he doesn't have a degree in his field so he is sort of limited.

He moved to this town for the job he had but was laid off in December. It is a rust belt type area where unless you work for the government or education the good jobs do not exist.

Can anyone recommend a family oriented area for someone in inventory or materials management? I suppose he would have to move to somewhere with manufacturing or where there was a lot of industry. I am not in any of these field so I have no ideas.

He said he would be willing to just move with his family and go to a new place but has no idea where he can use his talents.

Thank you if you have any ideas? I am worried because he is getting more and more depressed but he IS trying very hard. He doesn't do like a lot of people and milk the system or act above any interview. He wants to work asap.

The DC area may work for him. Although DC doesn't have too many manufacturing jobs, you have Maryland and Virginia here as well. Baltimore is close by and they have a lot of manufacturing jobs. But, there are supply chain oriented organizations in DC and there are, also, many diverse jobs here (DC) as well.

Another thing, too...people who live in the Delaware and Pennsylvania areas commute to DC a lot for work. Commuting via train, subway, or car in the area is very plausible.

Cost of living can be high, but he may have to live outwards of the city to keep his expenses down.

What exactly are his talents? Plenty of manufacturing work in Chicago. Expensive place to live but no need for a car.

Look to the natural gas industry in PA. TONS of hiring going on there for all types of jobs. Best kept secret in the country.
