I currently transferred to a new company and currently on training for a week. One of the topics that we will discuss is about change management. I had some research and learned that change management is a tool that supports the implementation of specific changes. I just wanted to know more about it and would like to ask a few questions here, some of you may have encountered this and maybe you could share a few tips.

Why is change management different than other recent management fads?
What are the Top Change Management Software available?

We are going through change management now, after major reorganizations still in progress after over a year. We do not have/use any software for it, as managers we are responsible for implementation with help from HR, and some outside consultants specializing in it. We have had Continuous Process Improvement (lean) for several years, and while it can lead to change, in our case the change is driven by the goals of new top management.

Just to clarify, are you referring to organizational change management or something specific like IT related change management?

Google: ITIL change management. Often a company implements CHANGE along with the other ITIL parts such as Service Request, Incident, Problem. This is usually tracked in trouble ticket type software. Companies often refer to them simply as "tickets". Such as, create a ticket for xxx work. Tickets often are initiated from contacting someone at the Help Desk or via creating a ticket online. A ticket starts as a Service Request. CHANGE (aka CR Change Request) is another type of ticket. An Incident is a type of ticket too.

I don't know much about the differences of change management from the other management fads. I only have a few things to share about it. In relation to that, recent management fads are more on the approaches for fixing some particular issues unlike the change management has different processes to help individuals and even go through any numerous changes in any organizations. As I can see, it has more impact in terms of managing changes.

In terms of software, Sorry, I don't know exactly their names. Perhaps, you can just look for the top picks in the internet that allows you to perform tracking of any changes just like you are really in the actual supervision in the network.
