I'm having serious second thoughts now about quitting my job (see previous thread about it) without having another lined up. What if I don't find anything else? Taking back my notice isn't an option. Kind words please. Preferably about how this IS the right thing and how I WILL find something I love.

Why would you quit your job without having another one lined up?

How long can you go with no paycheck?
What's the minimum salary you can accept for a job offered to you tomorrow?

Dazed&Confused - just assume that you lost that job or got fired. You cannot go and beg for the job you resigned over. Some major companies will come and talk to you on the last of employment and make a counter offer or just talk you into staying where you can show interest in your job.
personally if i resign then I am gone, because once you told them your leaving you will always be disloyal to them, and they will look for replacement anyway depending on your company culture. No point crying over spilled milk. I suggest you start looking for another job.

It makes little sense to say at this point 'you shouldn't have done that' because you can't go back, what's done is done and can't be undone. Best start getting your resume out there right away, and network like hell.

Start applying and sending resumes like there is no tomorrow. Never quit a job before having one lined up

Every time I get emotional at work I think about why I am there... Dollar signs cheer me up pretty fast... As well as having food and a roof over my head.

You really quit without something else lined up? In this economy?

I hope you have substantial savings... You will need it.

Some days, this is all that keeps me going.

Yah, not a good time to be out of work. But, as someone else stated, people get fired or laid off every day so treat it like that. Stop looking back at what you did wishing you hadn't and just get those applications and resumes out there. Fast.

Unless you have savings to last you for a year or two. That's part of the beauty of saving the majority of your paycheck instead of spending it. You have the freedom to tell your boss to go to hell.
