Is it even worth it to attempt to follow up on a improvement plan that was casually mentioned as a possibility?
The problem is now the company is in transition so there is no official plan yet for this year anyway.
I work for someone who doesn't like anything I've worked on and the criteria were set in stone months ago.
This is already done, just a matter of submitting the "acknowledgement" of review.
I'm thinking the only reason termination hasn't happened is because it isn't convenient for them right now.
Once a developer finishes getting the rest of the knowledge I have about certain processes I think it's a done deal. I have already reached out to some contacts but really would like to not leave with a permanent blemish on the resume. Only place I've ever worked where "mistakes" are with you for 12 months and the review deadline is before the year even ended, like 2 months beforehand. Anyone have any good advice as to how to proceed?

Honestly, everyone gets bad performance reviews. They do it to keep raises low. Try not to let it get to you.

I would quit if you can find a job and here's why. I was PIP'd several months I desperately tried to find a new job to no avail. By the time you get PIP'd twice they are gunning for you. If you quit and the do a check to see if you are eligible for rehire it's more likely they won't say no if you quit.

Now I did get 16k of UI but now I can't get a legit reference. Try and get your co-workers to serve as your reference.

If your company has a policy of not giving references, get personal contact info from a coworker or manager and give that. For my last position, I am not able to get a reference from the company that is more than dates of employment. So I use a reference of a person I hired who I still keep in contact with...I explain this to any hiring managers I encounter. Problem solved.

But as to not hijack, 2 PIP's is death. If your performance improvement plan needs a performance improvement plan, how good does that sound?

Ok so I never had one after first review, now I have a 60 day PIP agreement.
It's just the language might be too general and is somewhat just opinion just like the review.
I was already put through a 2-week audit drill that was revealed to be nothing but not exactly remembered correctly.
98% quality check on some work, some new stuff about getting along with co-workers.
Weekly meeting with the boss.
Just not sure why it never happened before this one, perhaps it is just extra work to cover them.
Talk about stress.
