Reminds me of my situation now. Hindsight is always 20/20. I thought this job I'm in now was going to be excellent in comparison to my last job, which was easy, but often times left me twiddling my thumbs and bored. Instead, the first year and a half were absolutely brutal. The environment was not as friendly, the expectations were much higher, and it was a much faster pace than any job I've ever worked. The stress of the job got so bad that it has taken a toll on my physical health.
Now that I've found my rhythm here two years in, I've learned to deal with it to an extent. I still look for jobs from time to time, particularly when a crappy situation here motivates me enough. It's not your fault that it's not your cup of tea. A dreary environment is just as unpleasant as unfriendly co-workers. Time to look for a new job.
