Get to work at 5am one day? How'd that go for you? Today was the first time I've done that and I was so exhausted all day long.

I have and I can't stand it. I would rather work til 10pm than go in at 5am. Now if I can have a nap at about 1pm... that helps!

I can't imagine. I usually don't get moving until around 10am. It takes me a long time to wake up and then I have to have my coffee.

Yes, I'm a morning person so it is not really a big deal for me. Now ask me to stay 'til midnight and it is a whole other story!
I made this all clear to my old boss. Told him whenever he needed an early person to let me know and I would be happy to do it. The guy that worked for me liked nights so he would cover the late stuff. It was a win/win all around.

I had to actually giggle when I first read this. By 5 AM I'm on my 3rd twelve minute break, and can't wait to go home at 7 so I can work at my own business for another eight hours, and then maybe catch a few hours of sleep. Then on my day off I'll stay up for 30 hours to get back into the right sleep cycle. Which will change again the next day anyhow.

Oh yes I've done plenty of these mornings. I actually used to work 6:30am to 3pm but we had something called "flex time" where we could work over and then leave early another day. If I was taking a full day off, I needed to work 10 hour days and since I was the one who always picked up our child from daycare, I'd be at work at 4:30am, which meant getting up at 3:30am. I was never really a coffee drinker until that started! Now the earliest I ever go in is 5:30am but thats not every day, Thank God!

Getting in at 5AM would be pretty tough. But I get in between 6 - 6:30 every day, and work till anywhere from 4 till 6PM.

South Range Family, why is it that so few of us in the transportation world that "put the rubber to the road, the Skydrol in the reservior or make sure the crossing gates are down, etc. have normal office hours"??? I go to work at 11 p.m. and never know when I'm done 'til I walk out the door. And I actually prefer it that way! Yes, I'd like to work a few less hours. But I do enjoy going to work every day and couldn't imagine working in an office where the view out the window isn't constantly changing. (And gotta love converting from (and back to) a night shift sleeping schedule!)

5am? Try getting a call at 3am and have to solve a highly technical problem over the phone. Or better yet have to drive to the office after the call and begin a 35hour + problem solving stint.
