If you want a crappy 11$ helpdesk job then you may not need a degree. But if you are looking for a stepping stone into an IT career I would suggest at least an associate degree and an A+ certification. Avoid for profit training schools.
In the hospital system I work for helpdesk jobs start at 18.50 an hour and yes you need minimum associate degree and bachelors is strongly preferred.
You are selecting better field. There are so many colleges which provide the Hardware, Networking, Technical Support courses. After completing you get lots of job in different industry. With doing job you will prepare A+ exam and it will again giving an opportunity which is next step than previous stage.
As I working as a Technical support Specialist in Fix My Computer Dude(fixmycomputerdude.com) i grow my career well. keep it up and All the Best.
