In my experience, a top notch Human Resources Professional who is responsible for recruiting and staffing likely knows more about how to find a job than almost anyone because they meet with so many candidates and look at so many resumes and participate in so many interview panels.

That's how I feel. Plus, if that HR manager received 100 or 1,000 resumes for a position, just think of the number of follow-ups they might get via LinkedIn! (And that's probably not the only position they're recruiting for!).

Do you find it odd that people put gas in their cars?
I think there's a difference between cold-calling or blind networking, and using degrees of separation to network. The first, I loathe. The second, I'm more open to.

I am thinking that they don't get many just yet as many are still trying to figure out what LinkedIn is and how it should be used.

Just imagine, you recruiters can now use LinkedIn follow up as an elimination mechanism instead of living 30 miles away or being unemployed for 4 months. You guys love to disqualify arbitrarily; this will help save you tons of time.
