I'll be running out of money soon, and I still don't have work. I can make by with 500 a month where I live (although without a health insurance and car), so I don't need much, but...
Since I've never worked before, I am not eligible for unemployment, however, if I can just obtain a payday loan or two, I might be able to volunteer long enough to find a job.
The thing is my credit is poor, and I have no cosigners either.

Don't do it. Better off going on welfare and donating the same amount back towards the debt when you find employment and can afford to do so.
A payday loan can put you in a downward spiral when shtf.
You know, it wouldn't surprise me if many of the panhandlers at the end of the off ramps here in Eugene, OR made over $100 day. Gotta be creative though. The whole "God Bless", "Disabled Vet", "Anything will help", ect.. signs are so old. I like seeing people who are cool and laid back and don't take themselves too seriously. Saw a guy the other day with a sign that read "All I need is $4.20". Had to laugh. I gave him a dollar for creativity. He'll probably make some decent $$$ and get baked to boot. Having a dog with you helps too. Sure, it's an extra mouth to feed, but you get much more in return in terms of sympathy change.
Something tells me the population of Eugene is about to go +1 soon.
Try local charities and church organizations. Have you tried a temp agency or the local fast food places, new car dealerships need people to keep the cars clean. Good luck to you.

There was a slightly older than college age panhandler who used to ride on the same bus with my daughter to campus. She kept noticing him on his new Smartphone, new IPad, etc, etc while on the bus (he tucked away the electronics and put on a ragged coat before leaving the bus). One day she asked him how much he made while panhandling and he responded that it was from $75 to $150 a day tax-free. My daughter said that she felt like a chump being happy to have a part-time job that paid 25 cents more per hour than minimum wage.
