Would a male in a female dominated field lose a bit of his masculanity? Just curious!

I'm a woman working in the financial field. Frankly, I was never too girly to begin with, and it's not really something I worry about. But I haven't noticed that the women I work with are particularly unfeminine.

If you don't like how you dress, change it. Otherwise, just worry about being the person you aspire to be. It's my opinion that as long as your attire is neat and clean, suits the situation and provides appropriate coverage, you're pretty much fine.

That's me and I'm not above picking up a screwdriver and tightening a restroom door (last week) or climbing up into a ceiling to isolate a leak (last month). I'm required to wear a hardhat and safety vest in construction areas but I will darn sure color coordinate my clothes to my safety vest when I know I'll be wearing it! Earrings are a must but I like to keep my hair up neatly. I want people to know I'm female through and through. I don't want to be a guy!

I'm a (female) software developer. I like fashion also, and this is reflected in how I dress.

I work in a male dominated field and very much dress like a female and the days that I crawling around a server room floor I wear pants and pants that I don't have to dry clean. I wear jewerly, makeup and do my hair. Granted I have very long hair so I do wear it up most of the time because it is easy.

I think anyone who is immersed in any sort of workplace culture tends to align with that culture to some extent.

Do you think that's true? And why?
What is femininity? Is it acting weak and helpless and prissy? Wearing impractical shoes and clothes?

Can't it be feminine to pull your own weight, do the same heavy lifting that the guys are expected to do? Can't it be feminine to dress appropriately for the job?
