Hello! I am currently studying to get my Finance degree in NYC, but I have no idea on career tracks or salaries or anything really. I've researched it but I would like to get insight from someone who has a finance degree.
I have a degree in finance. Personally, I started my career as an auditor for a self-regulatory organization. From there I took compliance positions within financial firms. I currently work in the compliance department of a large bank.
Compliance probably doesn't come to mind right away when people talk about finance, but the compliance landscape is getting more complicated all the time, especially with regulators like the CFPB now asserting their power all over the place. I'll admit it isn't as interesting/exhilarating as trading or investment banking, but it's a necessary function and a much lower stress life. At least that's been my experience.
