Resistance to collective bargaining means they have given back the gains made through unionization over the years. You will find non-union "salaried" workers putting in 60 hour work weeks, oblivious to the fact that their corporate masters are exploiting them into an early grave. You will find employees stuck in "part time" jobs to keep their hours below the trigger point where labor laws would mandate fringe benefits. Big money lobbyists have pushed through "right to work" laws that cut the feet out from under collective bargaining, and if you even talk about organizing at many companies you will be out the door so fast it will make your head swim.

I have to laugh at people who fall for politicians RTW arguments. In every state that has gone RTW-every- salary and benefits are lowered well below similar jobs in non-RTW states. With so much information, so readily available, Im not sure why they continue to remain uninformed or fall for the "more jobs" stuff. Yeah, a big corp might move into the area, but it is only due to the fact that they will be able to exploit the workforce. Not sure what benefit lowering prevailing wages for an entire state accomplishes, but if you want to sell yourself short because you hate unions, hey, have at it
High price to pay for false dichotomy

I work in the IT field in Mississippi (which I would guess would be the last state in the country to embrace unions) and I agree that non-unionized salaried workers are getting a raw deal. Salaried workers in general are getting a raw deal because we have no ability whatsoever to place reasonable boundaries on our employers with regard to what is acceptable as part of our employment. Our employers basically feel that they are entitled to every waking moment of our lives if they want it, regardless of what it costs us personally. Legally, they are correct in thinking they have that right but it certainly doesn't mean that it is fair or just.

Not a union employee. I don't work 60 hrs a week. Full benefits. Good amount of time off.

I'm not a sucker.

This, like the other thread, is absurd. You can't generalize on something like this. If you worked hard, are competent, and have a good education, you don't need a union to negotiate great pay and benefits.

It's laughable that this thread bashing non-union workers was created immediately after the thread that bashed union workers...

Union workers are by and large the suckers, shelling out money for a greedy system that really doesn't serve them like it used to, being that there are so many laws that protect workers now.

And furthermore, what fool (or fools) thinks those laws can't be repealed?
