I applied for a job and tomorrow I have to call them. It's an entry level customer service job. They have both part time and full time options. The part time option is 30 hours and the full time option is 40 hours. I know on some applications, some entry level jobs do mention benefits. This job didn't mention benefits for any of the options. If that is the case, does that mean I wouldn't get benefits even working full time entry level? Is it standard for entry level workers to receive benefits?
Yes most entry level jobs would provide benefits. What kind of a company is it? Does it mention anything about being temp or full time? You may not get your answers until you call them.
I've been hearing more and more than a lot of jobs are not offering benefits now, especially with Obamacare. I'd ask them about it if you're unsure ASAP. I used to think benefits were standard but I'm learning this is not the case anymore.
The company is called de Lage Landen; they're foreign and I'm not sure if it's just not standard to include benefits on applications for companies that originated overseas. They're 10 minutes from my house and on the bus route. The 30 hour a week position sounds really great to me, but it depends on benefits. If they offer benefits, I will have to take the 40 hour week. But, like Jjury, I have heard a lot of jobs aren't offering benefits or if the person is under 26... they delay the benefits until they're off of their parents' insurance (at least, that's what I've heard from friends - they don't get benefits until after they're 26). I'm 26 in July and on my parents' insurance until then.
The benefits, if they are even available will typically be pretty lousy with high premiums.
It's like you can't win.
