How long before America wakes up?? Why is it everyone is directing anger upon each other and not where it deserves to go?

Where does it deserve to go, in your opinion?

As long as people continue to accept those wages, they will continue to "stagnate". When people refuse to work for lower wages, employers will be forced to increase them.

If you want to get mad at someone, get mad at the millions of people who continue to work for peanuts. They're the ones setting the wages.

If you want anything more than "prevailing" or "competitive" wages, you'ld better have something to sell.

Or you'ld better be prepared to give more of your time and attention, while competing for "advancement" that might not materialize -- even though it's no fault of yours. (Robert Frost said it best -- "By working diligently eight hours a day, you may get to be a boss, and work diligently ten hours a day.")

But "competitive" wages seem to have advanced a little locally. The temp agency I sometimes use between jobs has advanced its base pay over 25% ($8.00 to $10.45) in the last two years; that's likely due to a much healthier local economy.

I wouldn't look for much improvement for those naïve enough to believe that wage increases are generated by politicians, however, or held down by capitalists or some similar target for the "pop wisdom" of Left-speak.

I think many big corporations have people (lobbyists, lawyers, etc) working daily on their payroll to petition the government (our elected leaders) to give them tax breaks, deregulate rules and regulations (unions, H1B visas, etc.) and pass free trade agreements that benefit them and their profit margins.

There really isn't anybody (including politicians) looking out for regular working people.

It's clear the corporations are getting their way.

Low paid workers are subsidized by the government for the most part so companies heavily take advantage of this.

Sadly we're becoming mostly a service sector economy. And service industries generally operate on razor thin margins and can't really pay good solid wages to it's workers.

Wakes up to what?

Who says wages correlate directly with company profits? How much you're paid is dictated by how much your skills are worth. Not by how much the employer makes.

A company doing there best to maximize profit by reducing expense and increasing revenue is no different than a person selling their car or house trying to get as much as they can for it. If they use a free site like Craigslist, or sell the house by owner, they are attempting to reduce the expense of the sale. Just like the corporation keeps expense down by not over paying the employees.

The rich get richer, and even upper middle class are becoming more like regular middle class with the wealth inequality (reference the famous youtube video).

How do you get the middle class to collectively fight against these lower wages when they are all fighting each other for jobs to begin with? It is quite the task.
