Ever called in to work so you could do or attend something that or the next day? I have a few times. Last time it was September 1st for the new Metal Gear Solid game I got it and played and beat it in one day, it still has tons to offer but it was really fun. Next time will be November 10th for Fallout 4, can't wait!

The only time I ever called in sick to work was when I was sick or one of my children were.
I never used sick time to go shopping or play video games.

I have not either. The only time I use sick days are if I'm sick or I have a scheduled job interview. Though I would have to guess that probably 70% of those who call out due so for personal reasons or out of pure laziness.

Usually for an interview. Maybe a couple times for some other thing that came up.

I have called in for plenty of non sick reasons. If I feel I need a day off, I take it. If they wanna lay me off for it, thats fine. There are plenty of jobs out there these days. So far I haven't had any problems.

We have PTO, and it can be used for being mildly sick, vacation, or any other reason for a day off. No reason even has to be given. Normally it will be approved even that same morning unless there is some big deadline.
