Taylor Swift made $55 mill a few years ago, is worth >$250 mill, w/o a union. Same reason. If you wish to make one in a thousand wages, have a 1 in a thousand skill set. Same principle applies to 1 in a million.

Without the player's unions, these owners would be telling them that they are not making enough
Lots of Americans always like to point to the weaknesses of Unions: Lazy employees, membership dues, ... etc.
However, there are also positives of Unions: Someone who represents YOU at the bargaining table.
In Germany, most corporations have Union members sitting at the table with CEOs making decisions.
Why do Schools (NCAA) don't want players to organize? Because they will be sharing those billions or profits made by the NCAA.

Not true. The millions are made by players with agents and skills. The unions are for the average player. The average NFL player makes around $500k.

I really hate the "greedy companies" mantra. Yeah there are some that can probably be characterized as downright greedy, agreed, but...

A corporation's objective is to provide a return for the owner/shareholder. If it can pay people less legally to accomplish that objective, it's going to happen. That's the way it is.

You don't have to work at low paying corporations. You can go to college (or a tech school), get a degree (in something useful) and go back out and look for jobs in another industry.Or you can start your own business. People do it every single day.

Knowing what you know about the market, do something constructive other than bitching on an online forum. It's a lot easier to ***** than to work hard, I know, but maybe you can make yourself useful.

Ditto. Like employees, employers simply always want to make more money every year. Yet when employees expect more pay for doing exactly the same job, no one calls them greedy.

Manufacturing is going to make a comeback, and I know exactly where:

Alabama

Investors are buying up just about every home they can in Alabama. It's currently the state that has the highest percentage of investor buying. I believe the current number is around 60% of homes sold are sold to investors.

Companies like Honda have already set up shop there.

The cost of producing in China is starting to catch up to the cost of producing here.

What better place to do it than one of the cheapest states in terms of labor and land?

Obama actually cut food stamps along with other benefits like Social Security which should have made you proud if you happened to pay attention.

And how exactly does that ignore the fact that under a Republican executive and Republican legislature, more people were on food stamps than they are today? Apparently you didn't even care at all about the food stamps issue back then when it was on your guy's watch, so why do you suddenly care now?

Investors in this country have no choice but to invest somewhere. All the options available are saturated, pushing prices to unsustainable levels. Manufacturing is cheaper than ever, and the trajectory is still a race to the bottom.

There never really was any money in manufacturing things. It was always a burden and an expense from the businesses perspective, which is why corps wanted to get rid of it altogether, or at least not have to deal with the headache of it.

But roosters do come home to roast eventually.

The poster didn't mean it literally. He correctly implied that Obama is a very narrow, middle-of-the-road centrist who isn't the hardcore leftist, Muslim, or socialist you've been led to believe. For the most part, he has continued the key elements of the neoliberal economic agenda such as low taxes on the rich, the protection of corporate interests, and social safety net cuts.
