I have been her 2 years and never have called in sick or been late and the only person who can finish all my work daily. There is a woman who has been out at least 15 times in a year (daughter sick, car not starting, cold, sprained foot etc....) Also late several time and can't keep up like I can. Yet they pick her to be the person who is sat with when doing our yearly audit. The last person who was picked to be sat with become the manager. I can understand if she was young and attractive (yes many base things on looks) but she is in her 50's. This always seems to happen to me. I work my aas off and am reliable but never get recognized. I guess it has to do with me not being as personable and outgoing?

from how you write, they probably bet on the person they could understand to do the auditing

Finishing work fast does not equal better work. Maybe they keep her on board and choose her because she is the better overall worker? Higher accuracy, less mistakes, more personable etc... Missing 15 days per year is no big deal to them if she's an awesome worker. Speed isn't everything.

Keeping tabs on a co-worker is non-productive. Attitude always comes thru. Change it up....keep working hard, and improve your attitude and maybe you'll get the next chance.

Then it's obviously something else like attitude or personality.

Or the experience and relative complexity of the work being done by the other worker compared with that being done by the OP. Or both. Or lots of other things.
