I have learned a long time ago it comes down to who management likes. That's why i quit working my self so hard long ago because in the end it doesn't matter how many times you stayed late or how punctual you are. If your not one that they see as a friend, you will always be on the bottom of the totum poll.

I'm not quite clear what this sentence means. However, if that is a task you would like to do my suggestion is to take initiative before next year's audit.

You: "I'm interested in being a part of next year's audit, what can I do or improve to be chosen for that task?"

I don't know what you do, the industry you work in, or your office culture but there is a reason why you're not being recognized while other people are - find out what it is.

you have to put yourself in your boss' shoes. From your point of view, you should get the promotion. But we know for a fact that your point of view is wrong. Try understanding the boss' point of view.
Sort of like a game of chess, get into your opponents head so you know what their next move is. Right now you are only thinking about your own moves.

This is a very telling statement. The only way you could think this is if you are paying more attention to her and her work, then you do to you and your work. It's no wonder they passed you over again.

There are people who think tactically and there are people who think strategically. Which one are you? Quit playing the victim.

As someone said above, next time volunteer. Better yet, have a sit down meeting face to face with your manager. Say you are interested in taking on new tasks that will get you noticed so that you can be promoted. Ask the manager what you need to do in order to get promoted and ask the manager to help you get there.

Don't say anything about the other worker or that fact that you COUNT HER DAYS OFF. This is juvenile and shows you aren't a team player.

If your boss doesn't know that you want to be promoted then how can your boss help you by assigning such tasks to you? It's much quicker and easier to get promoted this way versus staying silent and hoping you have a boss that notices and is willing to do something about it.

You are in charge of your career growth. Don't ever forget this.

Have you expressed interest to your manager? Do they know you are interested in moving up? Perhaps you are not on the radar because you haven't put yourself there.

Well, I got informed I'm being considered for a higher position.

I don't really want it, but they insist. How did I get noticed? by doing my job and not giving 2 poops about others. Sure I "Noticed" what they did, but didn't keep track of them and their work.

I had enough dealing with my own work. Do the same and you may get "Noticed"

I realize you're venting, good idea to come here and do it.

Some of the advice you get may be helpful....Some...Not so much.....
