Very interesting. Now, it's verified that HR does nobody justice. It's a plague to not only the job market but to society. It's nothing more than a private sector bureaucracy.

The economists hadn’t reckoned on the fact that 93 percent of the HR staffers deciding whether to call in someone for an interview were female. It turns out that HR women (who also tend to be young and single and hence still in the dating market for men) are eager to meet with handsome men. But they’re jealous of beautiful women. So your business is losing out on talented people (and wasting time with untalented ones) based on their looks.
It's a load of crap article written by someone with an agenda. At all of the places I have worked, HR doesn't have anything to do with who gets called in for an interview, nor are they part of the interview process. I am sure the usual suspects are jumping up and down and cackling like hens.
Wow, this author is so bitter it's hard to take any of it seriously. Not to mention, he doesn't seem to have a clue as to what HR does in organizations.

Same here, as the hiring manager I decide who to call in for an interview, and have no idea what they look like until thy arrive. HR may verify that they meet the minimum requirements and discuss with me if not, but they wouldn't see the applicant until the interview either. In our case they do sit in on the interviews but the hiring manager makes the decisions. It has been that way at a previous job also, where I worked for 17 years, most as a hiring manager.
For one, the link is to a blog. For another, the "report" mentioned was done by a guy in Israel and his conclusion is that the attractive women were discriminated against by female HR reps because it couldn't have been any other bias.
At any rate, I'm not sure why it is surprising to know that people can be prejudicial based on looks, skin color, race, height, weight, etc. The best thing to do is to not submit any pics with your resume.

Most people in this country do not include photos, but it is very common in Europe and other countries. I once received a resume for an opening from a guy that was living in Germany, and the resume was glossy, professionally printed with his face prominently displayed at the top. No, I didn't interview him but it was not because of his looks.

I've often wondered why that was so popular in other countries - placing your picture on a resume. However, I guess LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc. is our resume that has that feature.
I'm surprised. A lot of men in power hire young attractive women simply as eye candy to drool over. Look at football(college/Pros)it's like 90% of sideline reporters are young blondes, is that just a coincidence?
Basically HR use whatever BS unsupported biases they personally have when hiring. It can be anything from resume style/look/format to accents, to name/ethnic groups, age etc.
I would brush it off as bullocks but then again I worked at a place where my supervisor actually broke up a fight in the womens room. Total opposites were going at it. I thought Mean Girls was just a disney movie.
