Sometimes a promotion comes with more responibility ( being on call, taking work home, working on the weekend)
If I can keep my same 9 to 5 hours with weekends off and not being disrupted off hours
Sure ill take the promotion

If not no thanks

Not scared; just can't do it. I'm Mr. Mom at home so can't work the longer hours that come with promotions.

I would rather not give up an hourly position for a salaried one.

"Scared"? No. I just don't want one. I do technical work, and I do not want to be "promoted" to management.

I think it always depends.

If you are already overwhelmed and/or very busy before the promotion - yeah, I would be scared.
If you are underemployed and have the opportunity to show your real capabilities with that promotion - I would be thrilled.

Depends on the line of work, I guess...but at my last job, I asked when I would be promoted since I was already doing the responsibilities of the job title above mine for 2 years. Never got promoted.

Working for a different company now...getting paid more to do less work.
