I work in a toxic environment. Most people suppress who they are to survive, me included. My coworkers have this extremely warped idea about who I am, which is hilarious. I'm sure if they described me to people who REALLY know me they be like, "You sure we're talking about the same person??"
At work I'm a manager, and at home my wife and I are more like partners. I don't give her assignments or orders. If you are talking about things like demeanor, helpfulness, motivation, and ethics, I'd like to think I am the same.
I think it depends on the work environment for me. At my current job, I love my boss and department, so I'm definitely more me at work. And yet, I'm still very fake. I have to force myself to be more outgoing and happy. I have to interact with people (I prefer to be alone), kiss butt (yuck), and sometimes, be the "bad guy" (not comfy, but I know I have to do it). At my last job, I hated the job, most of the people, so I was very fake because I was in a supportive role.....all the while, seething and counting down the time to go home. I also have a different "job" at home, so I have to be a different person. I'd think the stuff inside is the same, but sometimes, not even that.
