Pretty crazy idea. Why can't this just be left to individuals to deal with instead of making a blanket policy? All it does is bolster the idea that women are weak.
I get that some women have real issues every month, but I imagine the majority of us can manage working those days. Those who can't should address it with employers on their own.
So big pharma wins again...They made up PMS to replace dysmenorrhea then the new generation younger ladies bought it, hook, line and sinker. Your unintended consequences will be bye-bye equal pay.
First of all, not all women are missing work because of their periods. I had a friend, she worked every single day and was fine, so obviously, this isn't a woman thing.
As far as benefits to employers, it should be fair, meaning, people should have a specific amount of sick days and possibly opportunities to call in when you can't go for whatever reason, be they man or woman.
That being said, not all corporations and companies can afford to pay people to take time off. If anything these kinds of rules just encourage more and more insourcing of third party corporations that offer NO BENEFITS for employees. It's a slippery slope.
I think this is a great idea! Women shouldn't have to miss pay or risk losing their job just because of that time of the month.
No need for something that can be covered as regular sick paid time off. All it does is reinforce the negative image of women for those issues.
