which of the healthcare professions will enable you to work beyond retirement age in a non-management position? i know it's not smart, but with how things are going with social security and retirement accounts nowadays, people of my generation will have to work longer to afford decent retirement
My first thought is nursing. I have two aunts who both only recently retired. One was in a supervisory role but still worked on the emergency room floor at the age of 71. The other retired at 70. My sister's mother-in-law also continued working as a nurse until 68. They all chose to stay longer for better retirement but also because they loved what they did.
Healthcare has many of the same positions as other industries. IT positions, Finance positions, many administrative positions, etc. Most of those people aren't managers.
