After reading the article and posts my emotions and thoughts waiver between disgust and utter sadness.

People talking about prostitution as if it's mainstream and acceptable in a civilized culture?

Seriously: All of you who think this is ok, would you be proud of your daughter for sleeping with hundreds of strangers a year, paid or not? And how sick do the customers have to be?

Mod cut.

I'd rather have my daughter work the night shift at walmart than making 267,000 a year working in a brothel. The damage behind the eyes cannot be undone no matter how much money you have earned.

I love the disappointing reactions some even wealthy career women give when I ask if going dutch is okay. My experience is if if you pay for her dinner+movie+ticketd+drinks you are automatically put in the no sex category. Bravo for these sex workers for running an honest gig!!!! It shows that men appreciate the straightforward business transaction.
Chacun à son goût Jimmy, but your way of seeing things date-wise is totally alien to how I saw things when I was “in the life” before I got married.
I went out on plenty of dates, with zero preconception of how things would go down, didn’t make the slightest difference to me, I wanted to be with the woman because I liked her, not because I was hoping/expecting to get laid, of course, if that’s how a date ended up, I wasn’t dumb enough to say no.
I’d never dream of suggesting a girl/woman go Dutch on a date, and if any ever did suggest it, I don’t remember them saying it.
Maybe it’s a generational thing, maybe just an English thing, but if I took a girl out to dinner, and the check came to £80, and she tried to slide me a couple of £20s, I’d feel a little insulted, like what gives, does she feel sorry for me, or think I can’t afford to take her out?
If the thought occurred that it was her way of saying, “I’ve paid my way, so dream on if you thought that were going to get some action”, I’d regret that she thought that way, and that I’d asked her out in the first place.
I’d hail her a taxi, give the driver more than enough to cover her fare home, thank her for her company, and wish her a pleasant life.
You say that men appreciate the straight forward business transaction.
On the assumption that you mean that they prefer to say, here’s the dough, now, your place or mine, speak for them or yourself, I’m as horny as the next guy, but I wouldn’t dream of paying for sex.
Forget how women must feel that you’re a loser for doing that, I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror if I was ever reduced to it, I’d be too ashamed to go out in public again.
I’d imagine that everyone could see the capital L on my forehead.

It's certainly not for me, but it's not worth clutching your pearls over.

Prostitution is the "oldest profession in the world" and has been a part of just about every civilized society to date. At least it's done in the safest possible manner in a brothel...regular STD screenings and physical examinations, security to keep both the "girls" and the "johns" safe, etc.

She said why she didn't have health insurance. And just because one has health insurance doesn't mean they won't owe thousands.

Nope using the established arithmetic that they used to teach in the US schools at some point. Just Google the average costs of the individual insurance in the US. "On average, the national cost in 2017 is $393/month for single coverage."

Here is the full link:

Even if this is the high deductible plan, she would pay a few thousand dollars, not 15-20K

I don't know why your mom pays this much. Is she over 65 by any chance? I believe insurance coverage is twice as expensive for seniors. Although she would then be eligible for Medicare...

That's not what she said. She was listing her monthly budget line items. $15,000/month that she's putting into her savings. She never stated her account balance.

This thread keeps veering off-topic and, consequently, is now closed. It has been cleaned up of some inappropriate and off-topic posts but is not worth more time at this point. People, please remember that personal attacks, trolling and vulgar language are never acceptable. Also, remember which forum you're in when you post and stay on topic. Thanks.
