Pretty much it was my day off, and went out to lunch with some friends and had 1 beer. Took the **** test like an hour later and found out I tested positive for alcohol. I only drink maybe 3 beers a month at best and don't take any drugs. So do I have any recourse, because I didn't actually do anything wrong at all and I'm certainly not an alcoholic? In fact, I probably drink less than 95% of my peers. What a messed up situation to be in.
Any recourse would be per company policy, and nobody on this board would be in a position to comment.
I am curious though, did you know about the test before you went to lunch and ordered a beer? If so, why did you order one?
Also, what company or position tests for alcohol at pre-employment? I have heard of drug testing of course, but never with alcohol as a component of the test.
Got notice of the screening on Wednesday. Had to get everything done by Friday, so since Thursday was may day off it made sense to do it then. It was a drug and alcohol screening urine test.

Ok. The company screens for alcohol, you knew it, alcohol washes out of your system in a few hours, you had an entire day to schedule it, and you still chose to drink ahead of the test.
According to all information the company can verify, you act like a person who cannot control their use of alcohol. I think you failed and they will withdraw their offer.

Exactly. My opinion if I was an employer and you failed I would think either you couldn’t control yourself drinking or you didn’t have the intelligence to not drink before a test you knew you were taking. Either way I wouldn’t hire you.
Sorry to be so blunt OP, sadly it wasn’t the smartest decision.

Your best recourse is to accept 100% responsibility for this--drinking alcohol right before an alcohol test you knew about beforehand--instead of justifying yourself. The employer doesn't owe you anything.

Who drinks a beer an hour before a pre employment **** test?!
Sorry, not sorry...you knew you were being tested and yet you chose to take that drink.

+1.
OP knew there was a test & drank anyway.
