The thing is they DO own you or at least your livelihood. If you don't like the terms of employment you are free to leave.
The thing that has always bothered me about the ACA exchange is they ask about tobbaco use in determining health insurance premiums but they don't ask about BMI. Sure if you are overweight maybe you shouldn't pay extra but if you are morbidly obese I believe it is just as bad or worse than being a smoker. Most type 2 diabetics could reslove the issue with a change in diet & exercise but won't. This country spends 327 billion on diabetes treatment every year.
