I've recently started a new job. The end result is the same but the process is different. It involves quite a bit of computer skills which I lack but I am learning.
I am annoyed because I prepared a document that really displayed my level of understanding but the format was too simplistic. I will get it but I should know how to do this.
I feel fortunate to be in an environment that is supportive. God knows how I may have been treated in another environment.
My years of experience to a certain extent is obsolete. My pay reflects it. How can I be upset about my pay when I lack these basic skills? I am the oldest person in my department.
Is your job providing you the skills necessary to be competitive? How do you know? If not, what are you doing about it?

Nope, I should have acquired them previously. Or they wouldn't hire me.
They hired me That's a good bit of evidence.
Nothing as I was hired and in less than four years will retire... I'm not shooting for the stars...
Not really, unqualified people are hired everyday.
I feel a little behind because of the computer skills. I have never had a job that required these skills. I made a lot more. I should be okay by the end of the week mastering these two skills. I guess it could be worse. The content was good.
yep how it usually works too anywhere, even for managers.
Each company has there own, "3 month vacation" benchmark though. Usually, after you start a new job, depending on how much they planned to invest in you (salary) they expect you to be brought up to speed 3, 6, or 12 months.
