I had been working as assistant professor at a particular college at bangalore. I was and am always sincere in my work. I was actually thrown saying a whole bundle of lies. I was asked to resign saying i should write i am resigning due to personal reasons. I had no other choice as my original certificates were with them. In order to get the certificates I had to write like what they said. The real reason why i was asked to resign was they had to place an old student who is of their religion. Am totally broken now, I have really no idea what to do, don't have anything to do. If i had not been sincere i would not be so broken, but here just to place an old student of them they threw me away. Am angry at the reason why they threw me out and also sad that i lost my job even after being honest and sincere.
I don't know what kind of protections and unemployment laws you have in India, so unfortunately I (most of us here) won't be able to give any specific advice - just to keep your head up, and look for a better job when you're ready! And if you have the means/desire, you might want to meet with an employment lawyer in your area. Good luck.
Neerja, can you apply to other colleges? Don't be discouraged, I'm sure you can find other employment since you are a good worker. Do you have any other coworkers that can vouch for you that you are a good professor?
Don't define yourself by your career. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and focus on finding the next opportunity. Hopefully, you'll land in a place that treats its faculty more fairly.
It doesn't sound like you did anything wrong. You were bullied out of your job by powers much stronger than you. You were manipulated and you were not able to control the situation. Anyone would feel humiliated and powerless in your position. You will have to move on to something else. Are you able to look at other colleges where you could work?
Keep at it. Do your best, aim high, maintain confidence, prepare for the possibility of disappointment and even failing, but don't let that stop you.
Companies look for people who are "seaworthy" and capable of handling rough waters without sinking. Make sure you're strong and resilient. If they don't see that, they'll probably continue to pass you over.
The ball's actually in your court, though you're maybe blaming them. You have to be the boss too, of yourself.
OP, you need to move through the 5 stages of grief over this lost job. It seems like you are stuck in the "Denial" stage or the "Anger" stage. The sooner you make your way to "Acceptance," the sooner you'll be open to new opportunities.
Yes i can look for jobs in other colleges but i doubt if there is any vacancy in the middle of a year. Now vacancies may be available in next academic year.
