Received great job offer. Accepted, and they wanted to do a background/drug screen.

Let me be clear: Throughout the entire application, interview, and offer process there was no section on the application or any question about past crimes, hence no where to disclose. I've done numerous background checks, and my OVUAC (Operating a Vehicle after Underage Consumption) does show up. I've always disclosed it in the application process, and only once has a company called me and asked about it. I still got the position after being truthful. It is a fourth degree misdemeanor.

I received my background check from a third party company that conducts it. There was a section asking about crimes and explaining them, so I disclosed it there. Is this sufficient enough disclosure. I was on the fence about saying anything to my employer without them asking, but at this point, I fully disclosed my misdemeanor from four years ago on the background check when asked.

Also, this background check is making me anxious. I think one of the reasons I got this job was because of an internship I had, but the company wants the last 7 years of employment history up to three employers. I asked the company, and they said three most recent (I work two jobs so I listed those and my latest internship). Are they not gonna check my others or....?

If the company did not ask, and farms out the check to a third party who did ask, then I would say you are covered by disclosing it to the latter. It sounds like a company that is very aware of the minefield that is hiring today and is using a careful checklist to vet candidates. They may ask about your record, but unless there is a direct impact on your employee status (i.e., insuring you to handle money would be exorbitant because of the record) it should be a non-issue.

But I'm neither a lawyer nor a labor expert.

Default I accepted an offer. Is this a red flag?

I accepted an offer right before Thanksgiving. I submitted my drug test and background check over two weeks ago. The background check company told me the check would take 7 business days, and we are pretty passed that. I’m hoping I passed since no one reached out to me and I haven’t received a Adverse Action letter.

I reached out to my HR contact Friday afternoon and emailed her since there was no contact in over two weeks. I just asked if there was anything else needed from me or if I am good to go, etc.

It's now mid morning today and she has still not responded. What should I do? Is this a red flag?

Start date is January 7th.

Did you sign a contract a contract already? If so, I wouldn't worry. January 7th is a long way from now. You are probably not a priority to them yet. Especially since people are on vacation. I wouldn't give a notice at my current job yet though

I did sign paperwork and an offer letter contingent on background and drug test.

Then all you can do at this point is to chill and wait.

And honestly I wouldn't want to be part of a company that is too unorganized to keep track of their hiring. I would see it as a blessing in disguise if they never reached out to me.

That's what I am most concerned about. I had multiple offers, and I chose this company. Now I am afraid that they are an unorganized mess, and I am stuck.

So you wouldn't be concerned or see this as a red flag or anything?
