As usual, the worst affected will be travel and hospitality.

Home sales will be hit hard if interest rates go up as predicted. It'll be a buyer's market for cash buyers.

Consider what you don't buy when you are fearful of losing your income:

Restaurant meals
New cars
Vacations
New clothes
Houses
Furniture
Trinkets

People employed in those businesses will experience reduced demand.

You know, if you KNEW a recession was a certainty, you could profit heavily from this information. Why not go out and short a home seller's stock?

I know, right! A recession is bound to happen (that's just how our economy works) at some point. But no one when or what will cause it. Yet sooo many experts think they do.

If someone knew when it was going to happen, he wouldn't need to say anything. He would just quietly profit from it as the story unfolds.

I think it will hit the interior of the country hard. The coastal markets are dynamic enough to probably not take too big of a pounding.
