Here's some interesting and new data on companies that seem to pay well.

Following are a list of companies together with their MEDIAN pay. Remember, MEDIAN pay means half the employees are paid below the median while half are paid above the median.

Each of these companies has at least 1000 employees on the payroll, so they are considered large businesses.

Where is the link to the data, indicating who did this and how it was put together? Why should we blindly accept this?

Anyone can throw together a list. It's utterly meaningless.

Beyond validation of the data, what's the point in posting this? Advertising for IT, big pharma, and oil/gas companies? I read through that list, and can only say "whoopy doo". If none of those companies are in your field, the list is irrelevant.

Whoops. I clicked submit without including the data source -- my bad. Time has expired on my ability to edit the original post.

Data published here: https://www.wsj.com/graphics/how-doe...-pay-stack-up/

Sources of the data published above: MyLogIQ (median pay); S&P Global Market Intelligence and company filings (sector classification and number of employees)

It appears to include variable compensation as well, but doesn't appear to include the value of benefits such as the portion of employer-paid health insurance, gym memberships, life insurance, and the like.

The actual article doesn't explicitly say it includes variable comp - but a separate article on Facebook median comp explicitly includes the variable comp, and that number ties to this article.

This article is here: https://www.wsj.com/graphics/how-doe...-pay-stack-up/

The corroborating separate article is here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/at-face...000-1523924535

And, indeed, anyone has.

If you wish to discuss Nietzsche and the meaning of meaninglessness -- nihilism -- we can go over to the Philosophy forum.

Other people contemplating switching employers might find it interesting - they might decide to target a few companies on the list.

Work for a telephone company. Not a cell phone store, an actual, landline telephone company. As a lineman, installer, or local manager.

You should cross reference this with info on how well the employees are treated/how well the employers like working for the employer. I'm sure there's data out there.

The Silicon Valley companies are heavily skewed by the local cost of living.
