I was just wondering if anybody works for a cell provider (Verizon wireless, TMobile, AT&T, Sprint). I am going to be going to college next year and thought about what it would be like to work there. I love cell phones more than anything! haha There was a guy that I met at my current job and he worked for AT&T and he said that he had a phone that wasn't even released yet!
I would want to work in retail I guess. I'm always up to date on every new phone that comes out and even some that haven't been announced but are coming! That kind of stuff is exciting to me!
So, I just wanted to know are there things that you love about it, and are there things that you hate about it?
Thanks!

I hear it's pretty good money. I've applied at just about every cellular store here and didn't get any jobs :-( I agree... I think it would be a fun job too :-)

eh, depends. If you like having to meet quotas or be fired, then this is the job for you.

ihatetucson is correct, if you work in those retail stores, you often have strict quotas that are enforced, and none too lightly.

I worked at T-Mobile doing a PC refresh project for them a few years ago, at their Corporate HQ in Bellevue, and I enjoyed the experience. It seemed like people were pretty excited to be there and pretty energized.

There are a LOT of facets to one of those companies, and if you're going to college, I'd suggest you try and stay away from retail (unless you want to manage a retail store, and even then I'd suggest do something else).

Depending on your location, look for their incoming customer service call centers. Its not the greatest job, but it is grunt work and from what my friends have told me, they tend to treat folks pretty well and you get to test new phones, etc.

Otherwise, work in repairs, engineering or their IT staff. Those are the places that you'll get your hands on new equipment first.
