That is true too. Some of them are our bosses.

So .... "all salespeople are "hucksters"?

Think about it. Every product you buy was sold by a salesperson at least once in the process from production to consumption. If it was manufactured, there were multiple sales involved of the components as well as the actual processing before a product was made.

A fast food restaurant, but that is because I'm a vegetarian and I have boycotted all fast food related products for the past 10 years. I won't even purchase a soft drink from one if I'm dying of thirst. That is just my personal belief system though. If I don't believe in a company then I couldn't see myself working there, even if I were unemployed (which I was recently). I just despise the industry so much that I couldn't even walk into the building let alone work there and help kill people on a daily basis.

Never heard the expression "Huckster" before.
But what do I know? My line of work is far from the average Hob Knobers, Pencil Pushers, Desk jockeys, and Price Pushers arena

Just teasing with the nick names.

Sure. You're trying to get people to buy a product that they don't need, at a price they can't really afford. The least quantity for the most money.

My approach to sales is: if it's a product you already want, I can sell you this product. But if we have alternative products available, I'd explain the different products available. But I won't sell you a new house to go with your paint...know what I mean? I only sell the things you're looking to buy already.

That's why--when one job started to include selling subscriptions, I had to go find a new job. If they wanted to BUY one, they'd probably already have one. Me, I only get a paper on the weekends...and still can't keep up sometimes.

For me it was always call centers (boring work staring at a cubicle all day, while making very little money)and the oil field Dangerous and extremely long hours). Of course I left a call center last month and am starting in the oil field today due to the economy and horrible pay cuts in my previous profession. It is amazing what you will do when you have kids depending on your income to survive.

I'm back... the courts clerk in our cities court system.

I needed to get some court transcripts copied that dealt with a crazy tenant (loooonnnnggg story) and while I suspected I was bugging her with my requests for copies, pens, paper to jot things down with, I KNEW the other folks were. These poor people were having to deal with folks paying their bail for beating their wives, asking directions to the other courts buildings, etc.

Truly it was endless!

If anyone here is in the industry, thank you!

Correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't believe sales would be your kind of gig...

Yeah, but no need to seek them out.
