I would like to hear from some people that are in Hotel management or hotel sales. Do you enjoy it? What are you hours? What is the pay? Could it lead to more executive management type positions?

Thanks!

I spent a number of years working in hotel management. The pay is decent (not fantastic), some positions were better than others. Sales is usually a base plus commission, so it could be nice if you're a good salesperson. I started in the low thirties and after three years was making high fifties, with about 40% of my pay coming from commission.

It was very enjoyable, you work long hours and sometimes weekends which sucks, but at the same time you can really get to know people that you're in the trenches with. I left the hotel business 3 years ago, but I am still good friends with many from the last hotel I worked at.

Sometimes Sales Manager can lead to other, higher positions in the hotel but it will take a few years of working your way up. You have to get in good with the general manager and other key people from the beginning if you want to move up.

Experience is the most important thing you can get in the hospitality industry. Start working in an hotel as a receptionist or whaterver you can and you will see, it will be much more easier to then be a hotel manager. You have to know that you will need to work hard, often during week-ends and evenings, but it worths it!
