Check Craigslist for these listings? But these jobs are common low skill jobs...

I'm not sure about Chicago, but in Denver you are looking at jobs that start in the neighborhood of $10-12 an hour. Most of the companies will hire every couple of months due to the high turnover, with the cost of living in Denver though you will have a hard time paying your bills on that income without a 2nd job.

Agreed. And Chicago is more expensive than Denver, so you might be struggling more here. Im unsure of the average pay rate for CS jobs, but it probably wont be too much higher than in Denver. Look into some cheaper southern cities where your dollar might take you further.

Ouch. Low skill, but lots of crap you have to put up with. And sometimes that's all a person can get due to no degree--like me I HATE my customer service job--trying to get out of it just as soon as I can!

Go to Denver!!! That is where I just moved from & miss it already! I made over $17/hr at my old job there. Hated it, but it definitely helped with the cost of living there. Had to take a huge pay cut coming to AZ--pay scales are incredibly different here.

IL unemployment is currently 7.3% - don't move here and expect to get a good job. The competition is fierce for even low entry level jobs. In most fields, except health care related.

Houston is better. Cheaper rents. I'm unemployed now looking for an Eng or Proe $30+ /hr job; looked a little bit at retail jobs here and they have positions.

i would say neither unless you can speak Spanish. those bilingual types are always in high demand and command a higher wage.
