I've seen that in my own life. In the past year I've worked for the same company and moved up within the company, not to mention had 2 different part time jobs during the year along with my full time job. And it's been pretty simple for me to get those jobs. My s.o. has had the hardest time even getting a job, much less keeping that job due to getting laid off. It's been a major argument between us because I get tired of putting in all the effort. This does make me see, though, that other men are having a harder time getting and/or keeping a job than it is for women. So...maybe I should be so hard on him.

I think it's because the industries hardest hit are mainly male industries, like finance, construction, manufacturing, etc.

Exactly. He has experience in both construction and manufacturing. Had his own business and that went down the tubes. It's really hard on a relationship!

Yeah, sounds like an industry thing to me. Many women are in administrative assistance (always need those), teaching, health care...

Women overall make LESS $ then men so it is better(cheaper) for the company. Women are less likely to complain if they get extra work piled on them.

One 'administrator' can work for a bunch of people, plus do receptionist work (women generally get that glamorous job of answering phone!).

Many women work part time.

It's more efficient to fire full time employees than part timers that may or may not be drawing benefits.
