Why are you majoring in a liberal arts program? Why don't you major in something that is more marketable and can enable you to earn a higher salary, like engineering? Many high-tech companies like Google, Microsoft, and Facebook are having trouble finding qualified people to fill job openings because there aren't enough technical graduates coming out of universities. Therefore, these companies are forced to hire people from outside the USA, such as from India and China, to fill these openings.
We don't need more liberal arts majors. I think most of these programs should be eliminated, except at the most prestigious universities. We already have far too many people with college degree who can't get hired.
I've seen tons of kids come in in the last couple years trying to get an engineering degree cause they wanted to make money. They are now in other majors because they can't handle the course work.
Your statement is simply false. Many police depts across the country have laid off significant numbers of their officers and others are under hiring freezes.
