In the age of the Internet, seems newspaper ads have gone the way of the dinosaur for finding jobs.
But I tend to disagree. I like picking up small papers, in little towns or out-of-the-way places, sometimes there's ads there that don't make it to the Internet.
I found 2 jobs like this, not for myself, for friends, they worked out to bee good jobs.

All the companies I worked for in the past 10 years never posted in the paper. Paper jobs is ok for a side gig
Well, considering I live in a rural area where many get their news STILL from the paper, I use it as a main source.
If I go online, I cannot find any local jobs in Monster or Career Builder. It's not in their interest here to use it.
I also go on local job boards to troll for jobs, as well as specific ones to companies and education.
There is just a lack of jobs "I can do" right now, even with 2 major fields. It's just a waiting game till the jobs come back or someone I send a resume to thinks I am right for the job.
I got my current job from an ad in a small local paper that wasn't on the Internet. And it's not a "worker bee" position, I'm in management.
No matter how much you criticize my job it won't make me like it any less. I love my new salary, coworkers, the stability of the company, the bonuses offered, and the fact that it's on the same street as my apt which is very close.

So Worker Bee is FINE with me GIRLY POP!!!-lol
Who asked you and why did you think the term, "Worker Bee" referred to you and your job? It's not all about you, TVSG. Methinks the lad doth protest too much.

To tell you the truth, I try NOT to apply to jobs that listed online. I figure the competition must be fierce. I often use local papers. I also use the yellow pages to start my research. I also apply at companies that I frequent or whose products I really like--and I use that to introduce myself. I guess the point I'm trying to make is that I try to find potential jobs before they are ever advertised. I've found that a lot of places that are totally swamped sometimes don't even have the time to place an ad. This strategy has worked extremely well for me. Granted, it is definitely more time consuming to target companies and do the research, etc; but it has worked out much better financially for me.

Good point. Many jobs search books tell you to send resumes to companies to be considered before the jobs go in the paper (and you have competition). I have gotten several jobs for myself and my husband using this method.
People should also read the business section of their paper and see who is expanding, who is getting grants, who is promoting people....these are good places to send your resume.

Annerk said I was a workerbee and I was letting her know I can care less because I love my new gig
