Seems like the stimulus has created jobs in the government sector to a certain extent but no other sectors? What does everyone think?

The only jobs I see are road repairs (Everywhere). They keep digging up the roads, patching the same stupid things, holding up everyone else, and basically you sit there wondering why they need 10 guys at one hole? There are always 3 or 4 just standing around doing nothing or smoking a cigarette. Please don't tell me 'it must be their break time' because I go up and down the same road within 10-20 minutes and the same guys are still standing around.

I guess I should have gotten into road repairs...?

I talked to an old friend the other day who had been unemployed for 11 months - he is an electrician. He is finally working again - thanks to stimulus money. He is rewiring the fire alarms at elementary schools. It was very encouraging to hear.

Oh sure....that is why a second stimulous bill is being talked about and every corp and small company in America is having nightmares worrying about this stupid cap and trade (TAX) coming down the tracks. Yep, that will create thousands of jobs. Any day now, it should start. Yeah right.

It sure has trickled down to the company I work for. They've created 13 good paying positions in the past three months as a direct result of business they've gotten due to various organizations receiving stimulus funds. An additional two lower level positions that are $10/hour with full benefits were also created.

A large amount of the stimulus money has just been being released to the state's and by state's to projects within the last few weeks. Many more have yet to be allocated or started (example: the high speed rail development money has yet to be handed out).

So I think there will be more jobs to come.

However, I agree that cap and trade discussion in Washington is also having a negative impact.

I know there have been a lot of jobs in construction opened up here in KC.

Checkered24 is correct that a lot of money has just been released and there is still more to come.

Hard to tell because the results of Bush's "trickle down prosperity" that tax cuts for the rich were promised to produce, still is the dominating force in our economy still.

Couple of observations....

Most of the stimulus funds haven't been released. Still a work in process.

A counterpoint to the original question (Has Obama's stimulus REALLY created jobs?)...how many (if any) existing jobs were SAVED by the stimulus?

That's what I keep seeing too. The stimulus bill was supposed to protect the teachers' jobs. It sure didn't protect mine. I think the state of Arizona must have kept all the money that was supposed to go to K-12 education or my administrator added it to her already bloated salary.
