"Your name has been referred to the employing agency for consideration" now what? how long will it take to be called for an interview?

Hard to say. Depends on how soon the agency wants to fill the job order.

Not just the agency in general, but the hiring manager and the HR specialist, too. Sept in busy with end-of-year stuff. Oct, managers are busy with performance appraisals and budgeting for the year. Add to that the slowness of the federal hiring process in general and it could be awhile. I've heard of people getting calls five and six months later. Or it could be right away.

For reference, my first fed job: Applied in Feb, interviewed in April, offer in May, start in Sept. When I transfered, applied in May, interviewed in July, offer in Oct, start in Jan. Just transfered again, applied in June, offer the first week of August. Started 10 days ago.

What agency are you being referred for, that has a big deal to do with it.

My question is, referred for a VSR 7/9/10 in one area of town, applied for the same job (different annocument) in another area of town, received notification that I WAS NOT REFERRED for the second position , but qualify for the job series and my application would only be forward if more qualified candidates are requested. I'm new with the government process. So I assume I did not score high enough? but did not receive a NOR. Help.

Several cadidates are referred. This means that your resume was selected for a smaller pool.

The next step is an offer to interview.

Referrals are a step in the right direction. But I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket. Keep applying.

What's next? You wait. If the manager wants to call you in for an interview they will. Good luck.
